We all have priorities in our lives. Those things or those persons that have our undivided attention. The things and people in our lives that are important and we try our best to please them. Who or what is is your priority? What or who has your attention on a daily basis? Well the Bible teaches us who and what should be first in our lives. Matthew 6:33 says "Seek first the Kingdom of God, the divine rule of God and His Righteousness, being in right alignment and all things will be added unto you". When we make God the number one Person in our lives, stuff and things we crave for, will be given to us. God knows we have need for things, clothing, house, car, food, relationship, job, career and children. But He wants us to put Him first. Our relationship with Him should be our top priority in our lives. We tend to seek for ways to get stuff, but God is saying, "Let me be the focus and I will make sure you get the right education, I will make sure you get that job, I will make sure you open that business". Just make our relationship the number one thing in your daily routine. Our relationship with God is vital and it sets the standard of life we have here on earth and the life to come. Sometimes we think a relationship with God is hard to have, because we cannot see Him. It will start out difficult and at times you will wish He was next to you physically. I, sometimes up to this day feel like that and its okay. We just have to remember that He is there even though we cannot see him. Just as a natural relationship, our relationship with God will start off rocky. Don't worry, you are getting to know a relative you did not know you had. put it this way, He was always family, you just did not meet Him yet. So He understands your frustration and your disappointment with Him in the beginning. Relationships never stays at one stage or level, it grows. In a relationship you do things to improve it, such as checking in with the person daily, learning their likes and dislikes, what makes them happy and what makes them sad. God does not want a weekend affair, He wants a marriage. He's not looking to be casual friends, He wants to be best friends. But in the end, knowing that person makes you happy. Now if that feels great with earthly natural relationships, imagine the one you are having with your Creator, the One who formed you in your mother's womb, the One who loves you unconditionally before you ever knew Him. This God is worth having a relationship with and not only any kind of relationship but the one that is priority over everything else. Evaluate your life and see who has your full attention, and if it is not God, reconsider prioritizing Him. you will not be disappointed with this relationship because He loves you, He won't leave you or forsake you, He gives you the desires of your heart if you please Him, He rewards when you put Him first, He protects you when you obey Him and He guides you when you trust Him. God is a jealous God and He does not want you to share your love for Him with anyone else. As we move forward with our daily interaction, remember who is first. First means forsaking all others. Father, as we come before you today, help us to know you more and more each day. Help us to seek your face and to know what pleases you. Help us rid all idols that are on the table of our hearts and to place you there instead. We understand that if we seek you first, whatever we need, you will take care of it. Let us not worry about the things in life that you will take care of but that our focus will continually be on you. When we focus on our relationship, everything else becomes smaller. We thank you that we can have a relationship with the King of kings and the Lord of lords and benefit from it in Jesus Name.
