Who or What should we value above all else? Matthew 6:33 gives us the answer, "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness, and all things will be added to you". Ecclesiastes 12:13 says "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter, Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man". The problem with humanity today is that we do not fear God. We do not value our relationship with Him. We do not seek to please Him anymore. We have forgotten the reason of our being lies in Him. Fearing God means to be reverent, awe of His Holiness. To give Him complete respect and honor because of who He is. Psalm 33:8 says "Let the whole world fear the Lord and let everyone stand in awe of Him". The church has lost their fear of God and even unbelievers have no regard for Him at all. Humanity has placed the Great God of the entire universe as a cosmic being, someone that is just out there. If we continue to think and operate in this way, we are in great trouble. When we begin to lose respect for someone, we begin to do whatever we want and say whatever we want, then the relationship with that person ends up going downhill. When we do not place God in His rightful position, we begin to lose all reverence and respect for Him. There are two categories of people God described in His Word, the righteous and the unrighteous. The righteous are those who have decided to confess Jesus as their Lord and Savior and have vowed to become in the image of Christ. The unrighteous on the other hand, are those the Word call sinners, they continue to live a life without Christ. What do sinners do? They sin, this is why we should not be surprised when evil takes place in our society. Jesus calls satan the prince of this world, he is the one responsible for all the chaos and darkness. But we as the righteous also called the children of light should be different. Those who claim to represent God should live a life of integrity. Are we as Believers going to make mistakes? Sure, we are going to stumble sometimes until we are no longer wearing this flesh suit. but do we go on sinning? Do we make it a lifestyle that we forget that there is an all seeing eye that roams the earth, observing the good and the evil? We should not let our mistakes turn into a lifestyle. As believers we must be different. Jesus has given us grace, not for us to keep sinning, but when we do sin that we are forgiven and are not punished according to what we deserve. Paul asked this question in Romans 6:2, "Should we continue to sin that grace may abound? And then he answered, "God forbids". Jesus did not sacrifice Himself for us to continue to desire the sin, when we do it shows we misunderstand His abundant grace and mercy. Many great men of God in the Bible sinned, some were a mistake and others became a lifestyle for them. One example was David, the greatest king and a man of God. David during his relationship with God, sinned. David saw someone He wanted, Bathsheba and decided he will have her. David got Bathsheba pregnant who was already married to one of David's soldiers. To cover up his actions, he decided to get Bathsheba's husband drunk so he would sleep with his wife to cover up his sin. unfortunately for David that did not work so he had the husband killed in battle. Do you know why David was called a man after God's heart? Because even though he could not see the sins he had done, God was merciful to send a prophet to David to show him what he had done. David listened, got convicted and repented. David humbled himself and begged for mercy and wrote Psalm 51. Jesus died for our sins so we do not have to sin. He understands the troubles we will face, the temptation we may fall into and so extends grace, mercy and love towards us. King Saul another king and man of God, was kind of different. He did not fear God so he did not respect God's authority and commands. Saul did what pleases him as many of us do today. When Saul was disobedient to an instruction the Lord gave, God sent a prophet. Instead of listening and repenting, Saul made excuses why he disobeyed. God was sorry He made Saul king and rejected him as such. How many of us God has rejected because we keep on sinning and ignoring the Holy Spirit's conviction. Righteousness is right side up living that invites God's favor and blessings in our lives. Unrighteousness is upside down behavior that creates an environment that invites the enemy to come and make himself at home. Righteousness is not being perfect, but its choosing to have a lifestyle that is in alignment with God's Word. Righteousness begins with living God's truth not your opinion of His Word. The only way to begin living a righteous life is to fear God. God must be feared, He must be respected and He must be honor. We all have weakness because we are in the flesh, but He has given us the power to make the right choice daily. Do we get it right all the time?, no but make a choice to live and walk holy by seeing God for who He is. Our heavenly Father, we thank you for who you are, a God of mercy and grace, a forgiving God. Help us to fear you, respecting and honoring your Name. Help us to submit our whole being to you and help us not fall into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one who comes to kill, steal and destroy what you have desire us to be. We place our weakness in your hands and help us to overcome. We promise to value our relationship with you in Jesus Name. Thank you for watching.
